Stacy Massey, Founding Partner, Board Member and President
Upon finding her "personal peace" from the guilt, grief and shame she experienced as a woman affected by abortion, Stacy became passionate about sharing that tranquility with others. In 2003 she founded the Abortion Recovery CARE Center, in Southern California, now providing model outreach services.
Late that same year, Stacy, along with colleague Christine Jackman, co-founded Abortion Recovery InterNational, Inc. also known as ARIN. Stacy is president and CEO of the organization.
ARIN is the parent organization to the Abortion Recovery Network, the Abortion Recovery CARE Directory & CARE Line, Abortion Recovery Awarenes/Month, the ARIN SHARE Symposium, as well as other numerous services and programs. ARIN is the first professional affiliate association solely dedicated to connecting like-minded abortion recovery efforts (agencies / programs / individuals) around the world.
In 2005, Stacy initiated Abortion Recovery Awareness Month (ARAM), which takes place in April each year, to encourage and promote healing opportunities for abortion and to enlighten society to the after affects of abortion on individuals and families. Although ARAM is not a political event, Stacy was honored that Governor Rick Perry, of Texas, acknowledged Abortion Recovery Awareness Month in 2009 and 2010. Abortion Recovery Awareness Month and the efforts of ARIN affiliates has also been recognized by: Governors TIm Paulenty of Minnisota, Terry Branstad of Iowa, Bobby Jindal of Louisiana and Senators A.C. Crowe and David Vitter also of Louisiana, as well as civic and Christian leaders around the globe.
Stacy initiated and partnered with Masters’ International School of Divinity to create the first-ever certificate program in Abortion Recovery Counseling. She is now developing an optional designation of Abortion Recovery Consultant for ARIN affiliates to complete in partnership with Liberty University. Stacy has written an abortion prevention model, called The Choice and Effect Project. She hopes to have it published when life slows down just a little!
Stacy has completed training and is a certified leader for most of the published Abortion Recovery curricula (HEART, Forgiven and Set Free, Surrendering the Secret, SaveOne and Project Rachel) She assists in the design and development of new cutting edge abortion recovery programs, to include, but not be limited to, working with licensed therapists and mental health professionals, church programs, life coaches, bereavement and grief counselors. In addition to uniting, and mentoring, abortion recovery programs, Stacy speaks as a research and educational resource that provides information on the aftermath of abortions. Stacy has been interviewed locally and nationally for many print, radio and television interviews, as well as participating in television documentaries and day-time talk shows regarding teen sex, abortion and after abortion issues.
Stacy has a degree in Counseling Psychology and in Human Development from California State University Long Beach. And attended Hope International University for the first half of her masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. She is a certificated Life Affirming Specialist and Sexual Health Educator, and speaks publicly on the topics of: pregnancy, parenting, adoption and abortion issues; especially the social, emotional and psychological consequences of each. She enjoys educating others at colleges, universities, community, awareness events and conferences throughout the U.S. She is a proud member of the American Association of Christian Counselors and Society for Christian Psychology. Prior to stepping into ministry work, Stacy spent over 25 years as an executive manager in the fields of education, training and consulting, social services and non-profit.
Stacy cherishes her faith and her personal relationship with her Savior. You can hear her on the sidelines of the disc golf course as she cheers on her 24-year-old son, who competes on a professional level across the country (yes, she's proud)! She enjoys photography, sailing and spending time relaxing on Catalina Island. She deeply treasures time with her friends and family! And considers her life blessed beyond belief!
